Noordhoek Farm House
The brief was for me to kindly create a 300 year old farmstead from scratch! This on a superb property below Chapmans Peak, with old Oak trees, a meadow and bordered by two rivers.
The new barns (part of the design guideline requirements) define the rolling meadow, and create an edge to the forest, accessed from a traditional Cape Werf. The walls are thick and white, site timber was used for the lintels over the stonework, and recycled yellowwood for doors and floors combined with hand crafted trusses and ceilings in Sugar Gum.
